It’s been slow in the making, but it’s finally coming all together! I can officially say that the living room makeover is done! Now to finish up the dining room, the stairs and…yeah, the list doesn’t seem to end over here.Let me recap what’s taken place. I went from a bland living room space to something that’s grand! It wasn’t overnight either, this project, along with others, have been going on since January. It’s called having your youngest son graduate from high school and you realize that over the last five years you’ve let things slip. Yeah, that about sums it up.
Anyway, here’s the before: plain olde living room that lacked any kind of true character or luster. It had carpet that had seen better days, and felt cramped and dated.
Before:
After:
Huge difference right? The hardwood flooring seems to open the room right up so it doesn’t feel so cramped and dated anymore. And the cute side chairs? I’d had those chairs forever and decided to give them a makeover–farmhouse style. Looks great, don’t they?
And that table? That was a craigslist find. I saw the “good bones” and knew that using chalk paint, and placing an antique glaze on it would bring out all those details that were hidden in the dark stain. I left the table top dark, and I think it accents it perfectly. Don’t you?
Stay tuned for the remainder of the dining room, and stair makeovers, as it’s getting close. Graduation is in two weeks, so the clock is ticking to get it done!
And let me tell you these angled stairs may look great ascetically, but they are a huge pain in the butt to get the correct angles…let’s just say my husband is incredibly patient.
